Our no lead pipe nipples are red brass. They follow the ASTM alloy listings / standard: ASTM B43
Red brass in the United States, is a type of
bronze – an alloy of copper, tin, and zinc. Proportions vary by
approximation but 88% copper, 8–10% tin, and 2–4% zinc is an
approximation. Red brass is
used for gears and bearings that are to be subjected to heavy loads and
low speeds. It withstands atmospheric, steam, and seawater corrosion
and is suitable for valves, pump parts, and steam fittings.
