Unit is pre-charged with 134A refrigerant and includes quick connect couplings
*Note: The amperage listed is while the unit is running.
The new Danfoss BD series compressors are speed variable so you can match compressor output to your cooling requirements. The Compressor will draw 2.2 amps @ 12 volts while running at their slowest speed and at their highest speed setting they can draw up to 3.8 amps. The compressor will cycle on and off as the thermostat reaches it’s set points.
The control module is field adjustable and allows the compressor to run at variable speeds. Changing the control resistor from 0 to 1500 ohms, or any resistance in between, will change the speed of the compressor which increases or decreases the capacity of the system.
No resistor is slowest speed, 2 amps @ 12 Volt DC for a small cooler (1 amp @ 24 Volt DC)
Red resistor (277 ohm) is low speed and draws 2.6 amps @ 12 Volt DC for a medium cooler (1.3 amps @ 24 Volt DC)
Black resistor (692 ohm) is medium speed and draws 3 amps @ 12 Volt DC for a large cooler (1.5 amps @ 24 Volt DC)
Yellow resistor (1500 ohm) is high speed and draws 3.8 amps @ 12 Volt DC for larger freezers or coolers (1.9 amps @ 24 Volt DC)
When the compressor is running it will draw between 2.2 and 3.8 amps at 12 volts DC (1.1 to 1.9 amps @ 24VDC) depending on which resistor is used. The compressor will cycle on and off as the operating temperature is reached so overall power useable can be as little as around 25 amps per day for a small well insulated fridge up to a maximum of around 90 amps per day for a very large, poorly insulated freezer.
To determine 24hr consumption; calculate the run time for 24hrs and multiply this by the listed amperage.
Listed amperage will change with size of box, load of box, insulation of box, ventilation to compressor, ambient temperature and unit door openings.
